Changing Screen Resolution - "How To"

Summary: This guide shows you how to change the resolution of your PC or Mac's screen.

Relevant to: Windows 95/98/2000/Me/XP, Mac OS


PC instructions

Follow these instructions to increase your Windows PC's display resolution.

  1. Click the mouse pointer on Start, Settings, and then Control Panel. (On Windows XP, Click on Start and then Control Panel)
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. In an area labeled Screen area, Desktop area or Screen resolution you will see a slider. Your screen size is indicated below this slider (see picture below). Move the slider to the left or right using the mouse until this reads the desired resolution.
  5. Click Apply to apply your new screen resolution.

 


Apple Macintosh instructions

Follow these instructions to increase the resolution of your Apple Mac's display:

  1. Click the Apple Menu in the top left of the screen, and select Control Panels, and then Monitors.
  2. Under Resolution select the desired resolution.
  3. Close the window by clicking once in the square at the top left corner of the window.
